A.J Ocando
My story begins in Venezuela – the country where I grew up navigating the challenges of a dictatorship government, but also finding ways to dream bigger than the borders and the limitations around me. Those dreams carried me across different countries to find a better life – from Argentina’s colorful streets to Colombia’s vibrant culture, Puerto Rico’s warm shores, and finally to the United States where I’m proudly a citizen now.
Along the way, I served as a soldier for four years in the U.S Army, honing precision, discipline, and resilience – from mastering logistics, technical work, telecommunication, and marksmanship to assisting in training across different locations. I’ve worked in hands-on, high pressure environments from technical assembly, soldering to automotive service – proving that not matter the challenge, I can adapt, excel and lead.
Now, a veteran at just 28, I’m stepping into the future as a biotechnology student, ready to build solutions for a healthier, smarter, and more connected world. In this uncertain times we’re living, I believe that we can turn even the darkes chapters into new beginnings.
